• In ceramics, Talc is used as a filler that improves the firing characteristics of the product and increase the strength of the finished product. This includes imparting whiteness in low-fire art-ware bodies and increasing thermal expansion to resist crazing. In stonewares, talc can be added to flux the body and thereby improve the strength and vitrification. In building ceramics such as wall and floor tiles, talc is used as a flux, enabling firing temperatures and cycles to be reduced.
